Surgery (Odontectomy)
Odontectomy is a dental surgery to remove a tooth, usually when it’s impacted or causing problems. This procedure is commonly done for wisdom teeth that don’t have enough space to grow properly. The dentist or oral surgeon will numb the area and may make a small incision in the gum to access the tooth. Odontectomy helps prevent pain, infection, and damage to nearby teeth. It’s a safe procedure, and recovery typically takes a few days with proper care and rest.
A surgical extraction this is a more complex procedure, which is used if a tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not erupted in the mouth. We make a small incision into your gum to surgically remove the broken tooth or impacted wisdom tooth.
